FROM REBECCA MEALEY, C.F.O.
Welcome to the accounting page where you can find the latest information on the organizations fiscal status and our contributions to the charitable organizations we support.
Trisha Bennett Foundation is the umbrella organization to all our other initiatives
(i.e Trisha’s Run). We are currently pending 501(c)(3) IRS status.
Beneficiaries of any Trisha Bennett Foundation initiative are 501(c)(3) recognized organization by the Internal Revenue Service.
STATE OF THE ORGANIZATION, as of November 2013.
Being the first year the organization started off incurring significant expenses with soft corporate fund raising efforts as expected, however to our surprise the turnout at 2013 Trisha’s Run was better than we forecasted. 70% of our revenue received was from Trisha’s Run participants, with 5% from corporate sponsors. As reported we were able to generously gift 50% of the funds raised which equate to $5,000 divided equally between Jane Doe Inc. and Voices Against Violence. After expenses, our remaining funds will go towards allocating an investment in obtaining our 501(c)(3) status, administrative costs, and maintaining a minimal reserve carry over to cover the initial 2014 Trisha’s Run event costs. With such a successful 2013 Trisha’s Run event, we anticipate that 2014 fund raising at the corporate level may be stronger. Despite not having our 501(c)(3) status as we now can illustrate a tangible event and worthy cause. Hopefully event participation will grow year to year and will allow us to give a bigger margin to the charity selected to be each years beneficiary. Besides the Trisha’s Run event, we kicked off our website, newsletter, and began to making ourselves known in the domestic violence prevention arena. We end the the year with a cash positive balance of $1,687.00. Thank you for your generous support.
